My client works within the Aerospace sector and are now looking for an experienced Deputy Quality Manager (also titled as Chief Inspector).
The successful candidate will have min 5 years man management experience as you will be managing a team of c 20 staff who work across 3 shifts (24/7) although this role is Monday-Friday day shifts.
You will be responsible for coaching, one to ones, appraisals and identifying any training requirements of your team. You will then present these to the Quality Manager for approval.
You will be confident in running meetings – they have 2 daily – 1 first thing that discuss with your team any issues such as H&S, quality issues, parts and stock control issues etc. You will then present these issues at a daily Department Heads meeting with ideally an idea of what you need to solve the issue!
Whilst its not mandatory to come from the Aerospace sector it would be hugely beneficial.
It goes without saying that you will have excellent communication skills, will understand quality with the Aerospace/Engineering sector.
You will be computer literate including Word, Excel and Outlook and will have a HNC, HND, Degree or be apprentice trained in an Engineering discipline. You will also be familiar with a variety of continuous improvement and lean tools.
Excellent communication, planning and prioritising skills and experience are also essential. You will be able to solve practical problems and interpret a variety of instructions which will be provided in verbal, written, diagram or schedule format.
There is the requirement to travel to other Company sites and some may involve long haul travel on occasions.
- To manage and control the Quality Inspection Department in its day to day activities. To ensure compliance to the company Quality Management Systems and to ensure all products meet customer requirements. To assist the non-conformance processes when necessary
- The job requires the job holder to make decisions and use judgment in ensuring products, processes; procedures and operatives comply with internal and external quality standards and customer specifications
- The job holder will be required to undertake the writing of reports, to investigate NCR and high degree of decision making which requires a high level of numeracy and literacy in the course of their work
- The Job involves a degree of cross checking of information and reference to quality standards/procedures and requires a high degree of hand to eye co-ordination and mental agility
