National Minimum Wage increase – Oct 2012

The NWM increases on 1st October 2012 for anyone aged 21 or over from £6.08 to £6.21 (an increase of 13).

The rate of pay for apprentices under 19 years of age will also rise from £2.60 ph to £2.65ph however there is no increase for those aged 16-17 and 18-20 – their rate will remain the same at £3.68 and £4.98

Will this, then perhaps encourage employers to take on more younger people as the cost of employing other staff continues to rise?

Only time will tell……
